Haneen from 'Namal', A Character Worth Celebrating

Haneen Yousuf from Namal novel by Nimra Ahmad

While watching series, movies, or reading books, there is always that one character you find loveable, enjoyable, and unforgettable. And once you find them, they get a special place in your heart. There are many reasons to adore a fictional character. Might possible they are relatable to you or got some strong dialogue game, did something exceptional, or because they were unpredictable. If I judge my favorite fictional characters on these grounds, then there is a perfect one I would like to introduce, the one and only Haneen Yousuf from Namal Novel by Nemrah Ahmad.

You can never adore Haneen enough for being such a fantastic character in the novel. Her dialogues, actions, and reactions are such a treat to read about. Kudos to Nemrah Ahmad for introducing Haneen, a self-made hero we didn't know we needed. Haneen's journey and development throughout the novel are an inspiration for anyone. Here are some reasons why I consider Haneen a Hero not only for me but for all the girls out there.

Unpredictable Actions

A hero knows the art of leaving people speechless and so does Haneen Yousuf. There are many jaw-dropping incidents of her in the novel for instance, when Nosherwan Kardar deceives his family for money by pretending to be kidnapped in Korea, Haneen exposes his act in such a way that even the readers get surprised. And how can one forget the scene when she fixes Jawahrat's laptop. Her giving Ahmer a mini heart attack, stealing the tie-pin camera from Abdar, telling Jawahrat about Alisha in front of Hashim, and decrypting the files by indirectly learning it from Khawar are all enough evidence to prove that Haneen Yousuf is one of her kind.

Makes Her Foes Bleed

There are two types of revenge. One that leads to a never-ending chain. And another one that ensures no one bothers you again. It would be no wrong to say that Haneen is mastered in dealing with her enemies in the second way. In the book (Namal novel), when the teacher forces Haneen to create notes for her daughter. Zumar Yousuf had her own legal ways to deal with them, Haneen made sure that the teacher would not mess with her again by lying that she recorded their conversation.

And how can I not mention one of my favorite scenes from the novel when, in the courtroom, Hashim Kardar asks Haneen some questions regarding her past. Her replies were strong enough to embarrass the entire Kardar Family and her knowledge of the law impressed the judge. Haneen Yousuf proves that she's the Powerpuff girl one should think twice before messing with.

A Listener We All Need

Not every hero wears a cape; some have cute bangs. Yes, that's our Haneen Yousuf, a girl with bangs who's always here to help out when you've got no one to share the grief with. She listened to Faris Ghazi when no one could understand how down and disturbed he was. Her listening cleared Faris' mind and explained to us how to deal with the situation when someone is feeling down. Only if we all get such an attentive listener in our lives.

Fixes Her Flaws and Heals Herself

It's tough for anyone to deal with their mistakes, flaws, or traumas. Many find it difficult to move on or make changes in their lives because they are afraid of secrets coming out, errors becoming blunders, or traumas happening again. One needs a lot of courage and patience to regain peace of mind or become a better version. And Haneen proved that no matter how hard it is or how long it takes, you can always change, fix, or improve yourself and become a self-made hero.

Throughout the book (Namal novel), one can notice a subtle yet strong transformation of Haneen. She went through different stages before getting her true self back. From denial to depression to acceptance, she regained her confidence, fought her fears, and became emotionally strong. Her letter to Alisha defines how toxic people in your life can damage you emotionally and how important it is to find the right kind of people to help you grow.

Conclusion

For me, the transformation of Haneen from an immature teenager to a sensible and strong girl is like a treat to read about. She proved that you don't always need strong muscles or supernatural powers to handle the villains of your life, sometimes a little effort is enough to make you a hero.
